Does this work with the echo plus that has a zigbee hub integrated in it, or would i need a separate hub?
You need a separate hub. The first gen lock ($139 one) uses only z-wave to communicate wirelessly. Echo Plus uses ZigBee only.
can you program more than one code , can codes be tunred on off for periods of time if needs, i.e. housekeeper, allow people to stay over etc?
Yes, you can program multiple codes. Using a z-wave system you should be able set start and end dates and times for the codes. I use the Mi casa Vera system and I can easily add, delete and change the codes from anywhere as well as check the status of the lock, lock and unlock it. I think you can also make the codes valid just certain days of the week and a few other options but these probably depend on your z-wave system.
