Work great with Pow-Pak relays
My living room had no ceiling lights and no switched receptacles, which was a code violation. During a recent remodel I had a wall torn open and wanted to add switched lighting without crawling in the attic. I ran cable from a wall receptacle to a box in the cellar and installed a Vive Pow-Pak 16A relay module to the box in order to provide multi-location remote switching of the receptacles on that wall. I paired two of the Pico remotes to the Pow-Pak relay, allowing control of the switched receptacles from either end of the room. The relays are rated to switch the full load of the circuit, so I have no concerns if someone accidentally plugs a vacuum cleaner or other heavy load into the switched receptacle. I plan to get more Pico remotes and Pow-Pak relays for exterior lighting as well. Could have saved myself a lot of copper if I had known about these before I rewired the rest of the house!

Perfect Solution for Adding a Wall Switch in a More Convenient Location
I have an existing three-way lighting circuit on my basement staircase. Unfortunately, the electricians put the upstairs switch in a location facilitated by their ease of wiring rather than the user’s convenience and safety. Rewiring to the desired location would have been prohibitive.
After doing quite a bit of research the Lutron Caseta Smart Home wireless switch and Pico remote appeared to be the best option. The big box store which sold me the wireless switch only sells the Pico remote switch designed for ceiling fans which might have worked but would add unnecessary complexity to a simple lighting circuit.
Once the wired Lutron Caseta light switch was installed (which is entire saga unto itself), programming the Pico remote could not be easier. Using the Lutron wall mounting bracket, the switch can be installed anywhere. Plus the wired switch itself can support additional remotes should that be necessary or convenient. I have subsequently installed 2 additional Lutron wired Caseta switches in the garage each with a Pico remote. I have observed no reliability or wireless interference issues. The remotes are provided with CR-2032 ‘button’ batteries which theoretically should provide 5+ years of service. Nice to know that the battery could be changed out with readily available replacement when required.
In summary an elegant solution to eliminate an annoyance which we and the original homeowners have suffered with for 30+ years.08/01/2022Verified Purchase -
