Does it lock automatically?
No. You have to push the lock button or use the remote to lock it.
How long does it stay unlocked, once you press unlock?
Stays unlocked until you push the button to lock it or lock with the remote. Or you lock by turning the deadbolt manually on the inside of the door.
does this require line of sight between the lock and remote or can it go throgh a wall?
It can go through a wall but depends more on what the wall is made of. I used it through an internal sheetrock wall one direction and through an exterior wall with a window from another room.
Is it water proof
It is an external dead bolt. Donthink I would let it get too wet unassembled, but installed it was no problem. The door I had it installed in was exterior with no porch or other cover.
