Frequently asked question

How long is the exhaust hose?

The hose is white and condensed is about 3' but since it is an accordion design kind of like a dryer hose it looks like it might extend 6' to 8'.

Did anybody recieve a black remote control instead of the better white one.

Not I.

How do you keep the hose in the couplings? It falls off both ends if I move it (or look at it funny).

It took me a few tries, but I found that if you screwed the end in slowly then just kept twisting the coupling down the hose until it couldn't go any further, it stopped falling out. I haven't had any issues since.

do you have to vent to the outdoors?

Yes. There is a plastic venting hose similar to what you would have with a dryer, which I believe is 5 in. in diameter. The unit comes with a kit so you can set this up in your window. The very hot air exhaust can then blow to the outside. The unit would be unable to cool a room otherwise. Despite the informatio… see more Yes. The very hot air exhaust can then blow to the outside. The unit would be unable to cool a room otherwise. Despite the information regarding self evaporation, you should also be prepared to have a short garden hose that fits into the condensing slot so the condensate can drain. I use a bucket, which is not ideal, but have no way to run a hose out the window to drain. The self evaporating function is limited. In my climate (Florida), I can easily get 6 gallons of condensate in 24 hours, sometimes much more.

Not as quiet as I was hoping

High quality unit that cools well, but it’s not much quieter than my other non “quiet cool” one. I also wish it had a continuous fan option without having to put it in sleep mode. Once it reaches temperature, the fan shuts off as well, and it wakes me up every time it starts back up. It’s not obnoxiously loud but I wouldn’t really call it quiet either.

It's energy efficient, quite, easy setup.

I love this thing!! First portable ac ever and I scored big time.. once I took my leap of faith and pulled the trigger. My world got cooler.
I live in a San Francisco sro and it gets really . This machine is quite, easy to put together and if your a ( I can fix with duck tape person) person that can improvise with the window slate .. your golden.. if you have metal shears you can cut to your window specified.. I don’t.. but I am from a McGuire generation lol.. . Bottomed line.. it was a good purchase.. cold baby cold.. didn’t pop my breaker and I have a fridge, fan and light plug into one socket.. yes I am using a power strip with a breaker button lol.. I like the fan mode.. keeps air circulation going.. it goes to 64 degrees.. The tubing assembly was frustrating, but stay the course lol .. Everything fit eventually..
I think I’ll paint a face on it now. Kinda looks like one of the bots of Wall-E..
Feel free to read my reviews.. I am brutally honest.
If I lived in Oakland, this ac would be a godsend..
That’s the News from San Francisco.. signing off for the
Be safe and enjoy your evening
Update.. 08/07/2021—- still no problem and I haven’t even had to drain yet.. so I love this unit still.. cold..really cold .. I also use the fan mode and it seems to evaporated the ac condensation as I use it.. way cool..

    So far so good

I bought this product for my elderly mother who lives in a smaller two bedroom apartment. I suggested that she use it in the master bedroom only because it is only meant to cool a small space, but she wanted it set up in her living room so that’s what she did. Obviously based on the size of the room it’s in, it is not creating a very cool environment. But that is not the fault of the machine, that is the fault of my stubborn mom. She’s very glad to have it, she says that even though it doesn’t make the room much cooler it helps a lot with the humidity which is what bothers her. She says it is easier to breathe and move around when it’s especially humid.
She did mention some problems setting it up as far as getting the window plate fitting and the hose installed. She said she needed to use a lot of duct tape. Take this with a grain of salt however as my mother is living alone and did this all by herself and is not really good at anything DIY. I believe she’s had it for about a month now and so far she has not had any problems with its operation, it does what it is supposed to do. I just wish she put it in the master bedroom so she could actually have a cool room.

Where has this been all my life??!!!!!

OH. MY. GOSH. Why did I spend so many years without this? We have central air in a large colonial style home that is about 20 years old. The a/c just doesn’t cool the upstairs. If you have ever lived in a two-story home like this with a single until central air system you probably know that you have to make the downstairs a meat locker to have the upstairs even barely tolerable on really hot nights — and even then — it’s too warm. I’d often come down and sleep fitfully on the sofa because it was about 20 degrees cooler. Finally I decided to spring for this baby. I cannot tell you how this has changed our lives. I used to get upset when I’d see that we had a heatwave coming because I knew it meant poor sleep for me. Now — I don’t care. I know I’ll be comfortable with this portable a/c running. It’s also a great back-up if your a/c goes out (ours did twice last summer and it took a couple days to fix). I bought a second one for my daughters’ room (they share — but in a year or two when the older daughter wants her own room — I’ll buy another). Then we got one for my father because he has the same issue: central air that doesn’t cool his room nearly enough to be comfortable at night. He also had his five year-old a/c go down over a long weekend and he suffered terribly in the heat — which at his age and with his health issues is downright dangerous. He said this portable a/c is fantastic — he’s thrilled to death. He even had to turn it down at one point because he got too chilly. This is so worth the money. To install we used copious amounts of heavy duty packing tape to seal the window kit because it just doesn’t fit by itself well. We also taped the tube thingy to the kit because if you look at it wrong it’ll disconnect sometimes. My dog now wants to be in our room all the time to sleep — he howls at the top of the stairs to be let into the room when we’re all downstairs. Before he’d spend the night downstairs on the cool wood floor. If this a/c ever breaks, I’d seriously hock something of value to get another. It works THAT well and I am THAT happy with being cool at night! I also want to add that we have a screen in our window and we left it in — and it works just fine. Nobody in all these reviews mentioned if you could keep your screen in the window. Hope it helps!
