Frequently asked question

I have gogogate 2 and my sensor broke, will this be compatible?

The Wireless sensors from the ismartgate are not compatible with the Gogogate2, try the Wired sensor instead, the ISG-WDS and GGG-WDS are the same sensor.

    Works well

I bought the ismartgate pro to hook up to me 3 garage doors. Since it comes with 1 sensor only I had to buy 2 additional sensors. Installation was quite simple. I was concerned that my 3rd garage is a bit farther and doesn’t have direct line of site to where I installed the ismartgate pro (next to the wall buttons). However all 3 work fine and they correctly report the status of the doors. Make sure to mount it towards the top of the door. That was even if the door is partially open the tilt sensor will know. Some people screw mounted these but I just used the double sided tape that came and so far so good. The only thing I am concerned about and I can’t tell yet is what is the battery life. If it lasts over 6 months then no worries. Otherwise I will consider a wired sensor. In that case I will move the device to the middle opener instead of the wall switch and wire everything from there. But I prefer the current setup as it is nice and clean. The battery is an odd size that I have not seen before – like AAA but smaller in length. Also you have to remove 4 screws to access the battery – a sliding strip would have been convenient but again if it is once every 6 months, no big deal.

    expensive and non-functional

Practically useless with little room for error for mounting magnetic bar versus sensor location. Also, range to controller unit is barely the width of 2 car garage, and who has gates within 2 car lengths of your garage door? Constant annoyance of notification and email warnings of unconnected sensor (due to short range problem). Pricey unit where it is really just a fee to use the extra door/gate option.

    Unreliable sensor

Worked for two months- battery died, switched the battery then died again after another month. Finally I swapped the batteries again but it never cane back up. Reset the hub multiple times but no luck. Very unreliable product.

    Fail every year or so

When they work they are useful. I’m finding they fail frequently. Purchased 1 and had one included with the ismartgate pro. Less than 2 years later 1 failed and replaced after after 6 months and now both sensors have failed.
Very very frustrating and assume both need to be replaced now.

Everyone needs, “Hey Siri open Mommy’s garage door.”

Easy to add to the bridge and my HomeKit network. I put two batteries in, scanned the code, and bam … garage two is online.

Easy to set up, annoying to change batteries

These are very easy to install. I set these up using the mounting tape provided to the top of my garage door and it’s been about a year without any issues reporting the garage door status.
The only issue I have is the battery life and replacement. The first set seems to have lasted about 8 months. The second set lasted 5 months. Not sure if the short life of the second set is due to the different manufacturer or due to the temperature but I’ll be monitoring the battery life moving forward. Also, the battery size is a bit odd. It requires 1.5V LR1 batteries and they are a pain to change as you have to unscrew 4 screws. I’ve since resorted to just using 2 screws to save time having to change them every 6 months or so.
