The choice is yours. If you wish the door to re lock automatically you can choose that option in the programming. Out of the box it is set to stay unlocked.
Hi there, Perhaps this would be possible depending on your door contruction though the Alfred DB1 and DB2 Series locks are designed to install on the doors with a 2-1/8' bore hole through the door, 2-3/8' or 2-3/4' backset, and 1-3/8' to 1-3/4' Thick doors (thicker door kits are available directly from Alfred if nee… see more Hi there, Perhaps this would be possible depending on your door contruction though the Alfred DB1 and DB2 Series locks are designed to install on the doors with a 2-1/8' bore hole through the door, 2-3/8' or 2-3/4' backset, and 1-3/8' to 1-3/4' Thick doors (thicker door kits are available directly from Alfred if needed). Also all Alfred locks are tested for the outside panel to be fully weatherized or outdoor exposure, while the inside panel would be inside a home. If weather or temperature exposure to the inside part of the lock is not a concern or likely, and the door can be prepared based on the typical installation noted above, then it may possibly work for your security screen door even if not specifically designed for one by Alfred. Thanks!

Questionable Quality and Extra Module Required
Unit #I was defective, waiting to see how unit #2 works out. The lock will manually open and close, but motorized function merely produces a grinding sound and error message. The lock allows install on right or left swing doors. Due to assembly issues from the factory the throw of the lock on a right swing door is only half that of a left swing door. The mechanism used to move the bolt is a low grade plastic piece Attached to a low grade plastic handle. Unit #2 arrived and had a handy yellow sticker that was missing from Unit #1. the sticker points to a small switch that must be set to adjust for door swing. once flipped both inits function properly. Z-wave module is on order for the second unit. For the price Z-wave Should be a standard feature otherwise you can’t remotely lock or unlock the door.

Instructions read like a tranlation, install not easy but not bad.
Just so you know I’ve put in 3 or 5 similar type keypad locks. Although this is by far the best looking one (think Iphone on your door) the makers need to have their installation instructions rewritten. Hire an English Grad student. Also have someone at ring or amazon help redesign the install instructions. Went fine up to the point of depth of the bolt caused the Alfred not to work. This took some effort and time that I did not expect. Overall a very cool product that just needs tome refining. I was able to use the Zwave Technology to link up to my home interface but had to order that separately. Worth the purchase but needs some creativity to get done.

Unit doesn't want to turn on in the mornings due to direct sunlight
I was overly excited about this lock. I didn’t realize it required a second hole drilled in the door, so I had to have someone come and install it for me. Overall, I am very happy with it. I am just concerned about longevity. The door is underneath a porch area, but still gets direct sunlight in the morning. You can tell it gets hot and it doesn’t want to light up. Kind of like if a cell phone gets to hot and needs to cool down to work.

Alfred DB2
I have had this lock for a couple months and put it through its daily uses so that I could write this review. I absolutely love this lock, it has a very classy look to it, and it works flawlessly. I have the lock, the Z-Wave add on and the WiFi module. I use the Z-Wave with my Hubitat hub mainly just for when the Home Monitoring is enabled it makes sure the door is locked. The WiFi module is probably the most useful, I could check the lock with the Z-Wave while away from home, but the Alfred app is so easy to use and opens on my phone quickly so I generally use it to check the lock when away. When I first installed the lock there was a couple problems that have been addressed with updates to the app, but I would like to give a huge shout out to the Alfred customer support staff. They was so helpful and friendly and solved my problems almost instantly. I can say that I feel very confident buying their product and knowing they will stand behind it and take care of their customers. Only thing left to say is that I will shortly be buying Alfred locks for the rest of my doors.

Using with Hubitat and works well!
I just installed this today and got it paired to Hubitat. After you add the Alfred DB2- Z Wave Plus Module Accessory to the lock, you can then start pairing it to Hubitat via Z-Wave Plus. Make sure to write down the number on the back of the Alfred DB2- Z Wave Plus Module Accessory so when it comes time to paired the unit to Hubitat, you can enter it quickly. Lock Code Manager app from hubitat works great with lock and functions well so far. I will update over time and share my experience with the lock.
NOTE: You must buy the Alfred DB2- Z Wave Plus Module Accessory to get the Z-Wave to work for Hubitat.04/07/2022Verified Purchase
