I have other amcrest cameras (older) that i view with amcrest view pro app on my phone and ipad will this camera work on my current app?

Yes, however, you need to set up the device on the Amcrest Smart Home app before you add it to the Amcrest View Pro app. Please note, since Amcrest Smart Home devices function primarily on a cloud-based platform setting up an Amcrest Smart Home device to the Amcrest View Pro app will result in only a live view.

It has a microphone, not sure about speaker! Sorry for the other answer.

How do you charge the battery? Or does this need to be plugged all the time?

    Amcrest has another winner!

I was happy to be able to evaluate the ASH43-W. I had already been using an ASH22-W in my garage, so I was anxious to see how much difference there was between 2 and 4 megapixels. I decided to put the ASH43-W in place of the current ASH22-W. I have another unattached garage that I am going to mount the ASH22-W.
For security purposes, I really wanted a high-resolution camera in my attached garage. I mounted it near the ceiling at the back of the garage. Mounted at that location, it has a wide view of nearly the entire garage, particularly the door. And when the door is open, the view then includes the paved area right outside of the garage. Mounting was a breeze. The peel and stick template was a very nice addition to make marking and drilling the mounting holes simple. I added a micro-SD card to the camera, prior to mounting it. I’ve always added a micro-SD card to all my Amcrest cameras, since I haven’t tried the cloud option yet.
Adding the ASH43-W to my instance of the Amcrest Smart Home app was simple. As with my other Amcrest cameras, it’s simply a matter of scanning the QR code on the attached label and begin answering the prompts. A great feature is the ability to use ethernet or Wi-Fi. I chose the Wi-Fi option for my install. I really like the Smart Home app. I can use the app to view any of my cameras from the single app. When I receive a notification of any of the cameras, I go to one place to check the video. The Smart Home has a great interface for organizing the video recordings by date and time.
The 4-megapixel video is much sharper. It’s very comforting being able to receive a notification that movement has been detected in the garage and be able to view a crisp clear video of what occurred. The motion detection is probably the most important feature. And that motion detection is enhanced even more by providing human detection. And both the motion detection and human detection each have separate schedules. Having a schedule for the notifications allows me to decide what time of day I want to be notified. I now allow Amazon to open my garage and deliver packages inside. It’s great to get a notification whenever they open the garage and make a delivery.
The ASH43-W has many other great features. The camera’s night vision makes it seem like daytime, even when it’s dark. And if seeing wasn’t enough, I can also open the microphone and listen to anything going on. The continuous recording schedule allows for a custom schedule for different days and different times each door for the camera to continually record to the micro-SD card.
One feature I have not been able to get working is connecting to the camera using the Real Time Streaming Protocol, or RTSP. I found this to also not function on the ASH22-W. All my other Amcrest cameras are easily connected to using RTSP. I’m assuming there may be a software issue with RTSP functionality. I have tried connecting with the VLC Media Player and a freeware camera streaming application called MotionEye. Either of these two applications work great with my other Amcrest cameras but I cannot get an image via RTSP with either the ASH22-W or the ASH43-W. I would highly recommend the ASH43-W.

    Great quality

Good quality, nice features. The only issue is that there is no website to configure the camera. You have to use an app. An NVr is able to setup some parameters. This interfaces well with my AMCREST NVr, and shows the motion detection events on the constantly recording timeline.

    excellent camera

i got this camera for my garage and it works perfect for that! It’s view is wide enough to get nearly the whole garage. I don’t have any issues with connecting to my wifi and this camera creates thumbnails of the image when motion detection is triggered. I have another amcrest camera outside and the doorbell one, and neither of those does the thumbnails, and it should have….
The housing is plastic , but since this is not in the sun, it won’t deteriorate. It’s rated for outside use, so the plastic is probably the correct type, but that’s not going to be an issue for my use. The other main reason why i got the camera, is the app. The app is one of the best i have used in terms of response time to load the video feed. i use memory card to store the video instead of using the subscription. That is a huge cost savings. But if you want your video to be stored via web, the subscription is available. So that is great option to be able to choose. Some other big brands force the subscription. Overall, this camera meets my needs and i haven’t had any technical issues with it yet.

Beautiful design, solid build, and excellent functionality!

I would like to start by stating that I REALLY love the design and build quality of the Amcrest cameras and other products. I’ve always been a huge fan of theirs, and have recently started to purchase their products and been very happy with them, I currently have a dome POE camera, an analog bullet cam, a keyless door lock, and now this Wifi Bullet cam from the Smart Home Series. I can’t express how much I love the look of it. The build quality is also second to none. I have some other camera’s I bought from Best Buy as part of a NVR package, and the build quality on those is absolutely horrendous. They’re flimsy and made of cheap plastic. I wish I’d purchased an Amcrest system instead, but lesson learned. I think I will slowly start replacing those other cams with the Amcrest brand.

Anyhow, back to this camera. Aside from the outstanding build quality, the image quality is super crisp and clean (don’t mind the image I’ve uploaded as Amazon does some compression which deteriorates the quality a bit). The camera itself is super responsive to motion detection and it also has great night vision features. I think once our house renovation is done, I will pick up a few more of these and complete the Amcrest camera system for our property.

Room for improvement: I did encounter some issues setting the camera up. Using the Smart Home app was fairly simple, but in order to get it to play with the other dome camera I have, you need to then add it to a different app on your phone, and if you want it to also display on your iPad, then you have to add the cameras again to your iPad. If you want to get it to work with your desktop or laptop, then that’s a whole other process. While the desktop/laptop app is very detailed and has a boatload of amazing features, getting all the apps to talk to one another can be difficult. I’ve relayed this message to Amcrest, and I hope that they’re able to interconnect all the apps so that you can just set everything up in one app or device and then log into any other device and be able to see all the cameras in one place without additional setup. There are other manufacturers that do this, and while their products are not of the same high quality as Amcrest, the setup process is much more straight forward.
If Amcrest can get their devs to unify apps, it will greatly benefit Amcrest and bring them to a might higher level. One of the key things I learned as a software developer and in an UI/UX class is that the user experience is VERY important. If you get that part right – especially for the average person – then you’ll have a much higher success rate at growing your user base.
Overall, the camera is great. Again, the design, build and functionality is on point. The value for what you pay is hard to beat. On the hardware side, it’s an outstanding product. The software side, however, can definitely use some polishing. 5 stars overall, but minus 1 star for software difficulties.

Works well with Smart Phone App and also with Windows PC software

Out of the box, easy instructions to work with a smart phone. Not so easy to set up on a windows PC.
You Tube videos and software user manual found on the internet helped.
